Writer, Director, and Producer

MARY MAZZIO

In all her films, Mary Mazzio explores the concept of overcoming obstacles, whether it is a fight for social change, or issues of poverty and lack of opportunity. Her mission of shedding light on compelling narratives of social significance (and the profound impact those films have had) has made her one of the country’s most prominent socially impactful filmmakers. All of Mary’s films are about ordinary people doing extraordinary things – defying expectations and challenging assumptions of who and what they can achieve. Her work has included UNDERWATER DREAMS, which raised over $100 million dollars with the Obama White House to support STEM initiatives in underserved communities; I AM JANE DOE, narrated by Academy-Award winning actor, Jessica Chastain, which catalyzed bipartisan federal legislation under the Trump Administration (related to online platform accountability); A HERO FOR DAISY, a landmark Title IX documentary which prompted a U.S. Supreme Court decision in favor of young female athletes; A MOST BEAUTIFUL THING, narrated by Academy-Award winning actor/musician, Common, and produced with NBA stars, Grant Hill and Dwyane Wade, which raised millions of dollars to support access to the water for historically neglected young people (and was optioned by Amazon Studios for a scripted series); and BAD RIVER, narrated by Academy Award nominee Edward Norton and Quannah ChasingHorse, which was nominated for three Critic’s Choice Awards. Mazzio has received numerous honors for her work, including a Ricky Martin Foundation Humanitarian Award, two Gracie Awards, an NAACP Image Award nomination, four Critic’s Choice Award nominations, as well as an honorary degree from Mount Holyoke College.  She is the mother of two children, one of whom competed in the 2024 Olympic Games.

Producer

Allison Abner

Allison Abner has been a writer-producer on numerous award-winning television series, including Golden Globe-nominated Narcos, Emmy Award-winning The West Wing, and NAACP Image Award-winning mini-series Self Made. Abner also co-founded the bipartisan Advisory Council on Human Trafficking, which advised the White House on President Obama’s domestic anti-trafficking initiative. She serves on the Writers’ Guild of America PAC board, Johns Hopkins School of Public Health’s Moore Center Advisory Board, Common Sense Media’s Gender Equity Advisory Board, and The ONE Campaign. Allison is a descendant of the Stockbridge Munsee Band.

Producer

Grant Hill

A seven-time NBA All-Star, Hall of Fame inductee, and part-owner of the Atlanta Hawks, Grant Hill is a household name across the country. He continues to excel off the court, from sports broadcasting to real estate investments to founding a private equity mezzanine fund. Additionally, Grant formed Point Road Productions, which has co-produced four documentary films, including two with Mary Mazzio, A Most Beautiful Thing and Bad River. His contributions to charity work, academic scholarships, and national initiatives for healthier lifestyles demonstrate Grant’s commitment to his community.
